Town and Country Rosedale 7.5kW installation in Hove
This installation was in Rutland Gardens in between New Church Road
and Portland Road in Hove.
The house into which the stove was installed was late
Victorian/early Edwardian with a suspended wooden floor in the lounge
and a chimney that passed a pressure test as conducted by Sean
Wilson the Brighton Chimney Sweep.
The Rosedale was selected for its output; 7.5kW yet controllable, Looks; curved
glass front, and guarantee; 10 year. It is a burner made by a family
run firm from Yorkshire and is hard to fault it has a nice easily
changed Defra approval setting, which was switched on to ensure the thinnest
of smoke out the chimney.
The existing fireplace was removed and the fire back dug out.
Shaun Jenkins did his usual exquisite plastering job. The back
hearth was repaired and the opening was ready. The cast iron fire surround
was kept with the mantle.
The installation was less than a day and the only troublesome part
of it was the weight of the burner 90KG (198lbs).
It was test fired the same evening.
Town and Country stoves like most steel bodied appliances require a
curing period for the paint to harden. This produces an acrid smell
and some light smoke on the first occasion of use. The room was aired
and the next firing is usually odour and smoke free.
