Inset fireplace installation

Original fireplace in a 1930s constructed house, which has previously
housed a gas fire and a back boiler. Complete with a Formica
superimposed hearth! and tiling. |

Tiling removed and throat lintel removed along with rubble
backing. Entrance enlarged with removal of false front mesh. |

Fireplace enlarged to the builders opening, rubble cleared and lintel
inspected. Pipes outlets from previously installed back boiler
removed. |
 |
Formica superimposed hearth removed. Back hearth and superimposed
hearth recast and inset surround built with engineering bricks and two
concrete lintels. |
 |
Log storage and drying area formed and front of installation covered
in 'scratch coat' of render. Void between the lintels filled with
concrete to form flat base for appliance. |
 |
Top coat of render applied and space left for finishing lintel to be
inserted. |
 |
Render coat tidied up. Rockwool foil insulation cut to size and placed
ready for inset wood burner installation. Stainless steel flue liner
installed (not shown) and flaunched at pot level. |
 |
Invicta inset appliance installed with stainless steel flue pipes to
liner. Hearth and surround tiled in natural slate, grouted and
sealed.
Smoke draw test carried out and passed. Appliance commissioned. |

Carbon Monoxide alarm conforming to BS EN 50291:2001 fitted. |
 |
Hearth / chimney data plate completed. |
 |
Finally bird guard on chimney pot installed. |
