FDC 5wide example installation in St Helens Road (off Elm Grove)
Brighton BN2
This installation was in St Helens Road Brighton.
The installation was in a house with a flue that was swept and
tested by Sean Wilson the
Brighton Chimney Sweep and demonstrated to be sound. The old gas
cowl was removed and theflue was made ready for solid fuel.
The opening was opened up and a new hearth was established using
Chailey brick seconds, lime mortar and bullnose corners.
The FDC 5wide was selected due to its impressive width (logs up to
15" long), its DEFRA approval (Elm Grove is within the smoke control
area) and excellent efficiency (81.5%). Add into this multi-fuel
capabilities and a riddling grate, it is hard to beat.
Shaun Jenkins made good the opening with his usual expertise and
the stove installation took a morning. Matching paint was made
available to us so we decorated the opening prior to installation.
This installation was without a liner and the stove and chimney
drew well when tested.
The total installation came to £1389
including supply of the burner and was completed in two visits in just
over a week.
