Damp proofing
I have expertise with both wet and dry rot manifestations and I am
happy to liaise with specialists to cut costs and achieve desired
results.
Damp in homes is usually one of two types:
- Penetrating (most common).
- Rising (relatively unusual in chalky - therefore well drained,
Sussex).
Damp can lead to more serious problems such as wet and dry
rot.
Dry rot is to be acted upon as soon as detected and requires
specialist treatment with chemicals as well as removal of timber from
around any manifestation of up to 1 metre distance. It is VERY
IMPORTANT to prevent the fungus from spreading as ultimately it
can cause buildings to cease to be viable. The fungus moves fast and
can spread quickly throughout a building if left unchecked. Spores can remain viable for up to 9 years.
Treatment for the problems mentioned above is to address the root
cause first, before treating the symptoms.
