Broseley eVolution 5 logstore installation in Hove BN3

This installation was in Donkey Mews, near the Paris House in Hove.

The installation was in a recently converting building that had been previously used as an open office.

The Broseley was suitable for a superimposed hearth (12mm) so a 14mm glass hearth was chosen and custom made by Shaws of Brighton.

Guidance from HETAS suggests that if the appliance is complaint with a 12mm hearth, even if freestanding, the minimum clearances required are those of 225mm front and 150mm to either side. We exceeded the front requirement due to the height of the burner and the likelihood of embers tumbling if they fell.

Whilst lining the flue, wood was discovered at the 11th hour and an extensive attempt to investigate and remove all exposed lathes. In addition the flue was broken into at critical points and rendered with lime mortar wherever wooden intrusions were suspected.

Once all signs of combustible materials had been removed and the flue was rendered internally and repaired.  The 6" liner was fitted and connected via adjustable Schiedel joints to the single skin pipe below.

The wall behind the burner was specifically made from fireboard and metal tracking then skimmed. No combustible materials were left in the vicinity of the burner or flue.

Due to concerns about undetected wood in the flue the burner was extensively fire tested for two plus hours it ensure than any problems would come to light whilst we were in attendance rather than as a result of use. Also paint was cured and  burner 'seasoned'.

All passed off successfully.

Additional to the Broseley installation they were also a Saltfire ST1 installation in one of the three upstairs bedrooms.
